- What is iMail?
- iMail is a web-based eMail which you can access from any internet-connected computer, anywhere in the world.
I don't need a computer?
- You don't need your own computer. Of course it is nice to have your own -- but you can access
your iMail account from the office, from the public library, from a friend's house, or from any internet-connected computer.
OK, how do I do that?
- Once your account is set up, just type "http://mail.alampres.org:8383" in the address line of any internet browser.
(That's where you normally type the web site address - like "http://www.myfavoritewebsite.com.")
Then you'll get the iMail screen where you need to log in:
Once logged on, you can use it like any other email account. Except you aren't paying connect charges, account charges, monthly fees, etc.
And, unlike many email accounts, you can access it from anywhere!
I already have an eMail account. Do I need another?
- You decide. This account could be used for church-related business. Or as a personal account so you aren't receiving personal emails on the office account.
It can be set up to forward directly to your home or office email account.
How do I sign up?
- Click on the eMail link to the Web Administrator below. Request an account and give your real name.
If you request a username (such as "snowbunny"), your username will be "snowbunny@alampres.org."
If you don't request a username, your username will be "firstinitial_lastname@alampres.org"
(logged in as "jsmith@alampres.org").
If the Web Administrator isn't out of town, your iMail account should be up and running in 24 to 36 hours.
How do I know when it's ready to use?
- Try it. Type "http://mail.alampres.org:8383" in the browser address line.
Enter your username, then your password. Your initial password will be your username plus the number "1"
(such as "snowbunny1" or "jsmith1"). When you first log in, you will have a message waiting for you that shows how to
change your password. You should change your password as soon as possible.
